About News of the Day

Fu’s ‘News of the Day’ archive is a series of synopses of all radio and news reports that he listened to in Moscow and in Europe. His hasty annotations are written in a mixture of both English and Chinese characters depending upon which language he was listening to. Radio stations that Fu tuned into included London’s BBC, Berlin Radio, New Delhi Radio, China News from Chongqing. ‘News of the Day’ offers readers a thread of news that was being listened to by a great many people in Europe during the wartime period, and after, who had a radio and access to this kind of news.
