Finished Bernard Stubb’s The Navy at War (Faber & Faber), Not much in it. All sorts of speculations on the effect of the Three Pacts signed on the tenth between Germany and the USSR. I fully agree with the opinions of the American press that they help to check the German advance in the Balkans. At least they free the USSR from her great worry in Europe, and leave her at full strength to deal with the Japs in the Far East. We should really welcome them.
