From 8.00 until noon and 3.00 to 7.00 p.m. the Central Executive Committee meeting. A member of the Military Section staff committed suicide by jumping out of the window while we were having our meeting. He is over sixty. The rumour went around immediately that the cause was due to financial difficulties. His salary was insufficient to support his family. If the government is not going to find a way to solve the official salary problem, I am afraid this lamentable case will be just the beginning and hundreds will follow.
