In the morning I was preparing the examination report for the Sino-Soviet Commercial Treaty. I discussed with Sun Fo that the report I would send to the the Legislative Yuan meeting would be detailed. After getting approval my report would be attached when we submitted the reply to the Supreme Defense Conference so that when the conference examined the treaty they would have reference. Wang Chonghui agreed with this idea therefore my report was 8,000-9,000 words in length.
Wang Chonghui invited us to have Christmas dinner in his home. Besides Xie Gengmin (謝耿民) and his wife, as well as others, Counsellor Chen and his wife (Mrs. Kang) were also there. After dinner we played “half past ten” (a card game). I went home at 12.30 a.m. For me, although this Christmas Eve was not as good as the ones I had when I was in Hong Kong and Shanghai, it was much better than last year. Probably my fortune for the next year will be much better than this year.
