From 8.00 to 11.30 the Central Executive Committee meeting. And from 3.00 to 7.00 p.m. the Central Executive Committee meeting. Liu Yazi (柳亞子)[1] sent a letter to Ye Chucang denouncing the Government for the way the New Fourth Army case had been handled. He went much further than the CPP and called the Government a “tiny court”, using terms intolerable to the Party. So, it was unanimously decided to expel him from the Party. The Generalissimo proposed 1) Wang Chonghui be transferred to be Head Secretary of the Supreme National Defense Conference 2) Guo Taiji to be the Minister of Foreign affairs 3) Liu Weichi to be Minster of the Overseas Department, and Dai Defu and Chen Qingyun Deputy Ministers. It all came as a surprise to everyone. Guo Taiji’s succession to the Foreign Office is a happy choice. He has done well in London. What I am afraid of is that Dr. Wang Chonghui will find his new post much worse than the one he wanted so badly to get rid of so, out of the frying pan, he’s fallen into the fire. But he was quite happy at the change and insisted upon my organising a party to congratulate him.

At 7.00 p.m. the Generalissimo was invited to dinner at the Chia-ling Hostel. Afterwards to President Sun’s place.
