Fifth day of the second lunar month

B.O. and Rosa came to spend their short vacation. Read The Rape of the Netherlands by E.N. Kleffens, the unfortunate Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs. His descriptions of the few days before and after the German attack accrues pity and sympathy towards such innocent peace-loving people. There cannot be any doubt as to the unholy methods employed by the totalitarians. We, who are facing the same, and perhaps worse barbarities from the inhuman Japs, cannot but have the deepest of fellow-feelings towards them. The book constantly served its purpose as a work of propaganda, but failed as the piece of literature it was recommended to me by so high an authority as Dr. Wang. There is too much fire in his expressions to make his style bordering on good.
