Fanny gave birth to a girl at 10.50 a.m. at the Kiangsu Hospital near Beibei. Dr Han Mingjun(韓明炬) was sent for yesterday when she felt a little pain the night before last. He advised her to go to the hospital at once, and so she was taken there late yesterday accompanied by Long Renhua. I learnt afterwards that she suffered a great deal from 5.00 a.m. this morning until the child was delivered. I went to see her immediately and was glad to find she is in good condition. Minqin went to relieve Miss Lung who has to come back. No praise is good enough for Dr. Han who has the sweetest disposition on top of his professional skill. According to Tianjuan the watch Fanny had with her was ten minutes behind time. If so, my daughter’s birth hour would be Wushi of the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar.
