According to yesterday’s news, Vichy was compelled to accept the Jap mediation plan after the Japs declared that they will no longer tolerate France’s usual tactics of bargaining at the eleventh hour for terms of alleviation. The French are in a hopeless position. But we can easily see the rescue of the so-called cooperation of Thailand with the Japs. As Hungary is now in Nazi Germany, so Siam will soon be a vassal to imperialist Japan. For a weak and small country to go into partnership with a knavish neighbour in buccaneering, she will in the end get nothing but disaster. Why have the Siamese not learnt from the bitter experience of Poland?
