Zheng Jiemin came by and we talked for quite a long time. He thought that Zukov had not achieved understanding with Eisenhower. He also told me about what Zukov sait to the Prime Minister of Burma when he had visited there.
At noon, President Yu invited me to have lunch at Rongyuan. Yu’s spirit is not as good as before, but he can still speak satisfactorily. For Deputy President, Liang Shangdong, I had met him when I was in Nanjing. Secretary General Zhang Muhan (Character:Xuean) was friends with both Tianjuan and Shupeng. When Zhang was in Nanjing, he always went to my home in Mianxieying.
At one o clock, I went to a luncheon being held for old and new Legislative Yuan members. Many of my old friends attended it. The deputy president chaired it. Several tens of my old friends including, Zhang Mojun, Zhang Zhiben, Chen Zhaoying, and so on, were there. I heard that the meeting was unprecedented and distinguished. Cheng Cangbo suggested asking Liang Hancao to deliver a welcome speech. What Liang said was quite good. Cheng also asked me to report my living after we parted. Probably it was aimed at embarrassing Liu Kai. But Liu was also good about dealing with it. He said that when he was in the Legislative Yuan he was a Secretary, so that he had no right to speak. (He also said that) Ottawa, in Canada, was a freezing place, which was like living in a refrigerator and no one would feel warm. It seemed that people were satisfied with my reply speech. We had a happy time at the lunch.
In the evening, You Mijian invited me for a banquet at his home at Number 106 Ningbo West Street.
