I listened to the radio. Our country has protested to the Vichy government with regard to the occupation of Guangzhouwan by our enemy, and their use of this as a base to attack areas in the southern part of Guangdong. I feel very anxious because my mother and others are still in Guangzhouwan. I was not certain what they were doing. Qiongfang, Jinpei also left for there. I was not sure if they would have arrived when it was occupied. The living of Bingkun (Fu Bingkun, 傅秉坤)[1]’s family life also worried me. I then sent telegrams to Chairman Li Hanyun (李漢魂)[2], Xu Jingzhi, Wu Tiecheng, Chan Chak ,Baoqiao and others, asking for their assistance.  I couldn’t sleep at night so I read Fengshenbang hoping to forget the worries. I did not manage to sleep until 3.30 a.m. then I managed to sleep, though not very well.
