Friday, 7 June
I woke early in the morning. I still feel quite weak so I am carrying on with the medicine. But I am no longer on a diet.
In the morning Hu Baihua came with Mr. Cao. I told them about the content of Shaohua’s letter. I also told them what happened regarding our cooperation and separation with Lin Zhaoting. I also said that Shaohua would discuss with them the details. They were delighted and relieved with (what I said).
In the afternoon, Huang Guangpu came to chat. He said he studies Chinese and Western medicine in his spare time.
Cai Qiwen (a representative of Chinese merchants in Japan and Chairman of Huaxing Trading Company) came to see Zhongxiong, but it happened that Zhongxiong was not here. He stayed to talk with me for a while. Regarding Cai’s matter the government has been really unjust to him. But at the moment we are not in a position to offer any assistance.
Guo Jinglun (郭經綸), the nephew of the wife of Yongli (6th auntie), came to visit me. He came with Chen Houru (陳厚儒). Chen came to say good bye. (He went to Tahiti to be Consul General there.) Guo stayed on and chatted with me for a while.
