Fine

At ten minutes past nine our sleeper reached Victoria Station of London. Mr. Tan Jingpu, Zhongxiong, Hanyuan and Ah Bin, were all there waiting for us, but the checking of passports took as long as one hour. After that we immediately went to the hotel that Mr. Tan booked for us. It was quite close to his place but I found it was really expensive.

In the afternoon, F.T. Cheng invited us to have lunch. He told me that Wang Chonghui had also written to him recently, asking him to return to Taipei and take up the post of Chief Judge, but Cheng replied that his financial situation did not allow him to do so. It was because the salary for Chief Judge was absolutely unable to maintain a family of ten. Wang Chonghui also showed his sympathy towards him. I told him about the letter Wang Chonghui sent me recently and about Mr. Duan Guanhai persuading me to return to Taipei. He also advocated that I should not return to Taiwan.

In the evening, Mr. Tan Jingpu and his wife invited us to have dinner at their home. Mrs. Tan told Kitty that we could move to their house as paying guests. Yanfang quite agreed with what she said.
