In his letter, Sun Fo said that he still has not received a visa from the French consulate. Therefore, I asked Chen Xiongfei to liaise with the French side. Xiongfei telephoned me, saying that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had approved the visa, so I immediately informed Sun Fo about it via letter.

Liyu wrote and told me that she had divorced Lu Jiakan (盧家幹). Now she is raising two daughters. She intends to move to the United States but the visas of her two daughters have encountered some difficulties. Therefore, she asked me if I could find a young man to enter into a false engagement with her daughter, and asked also that the Embassy certify it, so that she would be in liaison with the American Consulate in Hong Kong. I had asked several people and they declined. Duan Guanhai’s side even had many more difficulties. I replied to her by letter and explained the real situation.
