Monday, 14 June

Today is the United Nations’ National Flag. This morning the BBC broadcast talked about the telegrams the Generalissimo sent to Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin. Luckily, I had already sent the telegram off last night, otherwise it would be very embarrassing because the telegrams were sent out on 11 June, Britain and the United States could receive them the same day. I didn’t receive it until 6.00 p.m. on 12 June. It is quite difficult to handle matters here, as one can tell from trivial things like this.

The British Embassy sent me the stuff like suitcases and medicine which were purchased by Qian Tai in Britain. Although Britain is still in wartime, its products remain fine and inexpensive. In the past few years since the War of Resistance I haven’t seen anything nice. Getting these things made me feel very happy, just like children getting toys. I couldn’t help laughing and feeling pity for myself.
