Trainee Tang Shenghao (唐盛鎬) arrived from China, and brought a lot of letters from there. According to Baoqiao’s letter, Zhouxian and Zhaoxian cohabited, and treated Kitty badly. This was all made up by Kitty. She went back to Guilin and left Chongqing to avoid bad rumours. This is fine. I received letters from Qiongfang and Jinpei. They are always asking for money. I feel I have sent enough back for their use. Because of Jintu’s sickness Fanny has used too much money, and since she has never experienced hardship, Fanny’s letter is filled with bad words. It is understandable, but it could indicate that her education and intelligence is not up to standard. I think that I have to be more careful when getting to know people. The old saying goes that when one is fifty he should know his faults at 49. Perhaps I have to be fifty then I can know my previous mistakes.
