After breakfast tea, I visited the tomb of Napoleon I at Dôme des Invalides with Kitty. Then we had lunch at the Shanglong restaurant.

At 7.00 p.m., Baoqiao came to talk, saying that Sun Fo wanted me to reply to Wang Chonghui that he felt, for private and public reasons, that it would be  better for him to stay in Europe and study the situation of Europe, for the time being. He also said that as the food made by the new cook is quite good, Sun Fo wants to invite us to return home for dinner before leaving France. Baoqiao also urged us to accept, so as not to embarrass Sun Fo. I said that since Kitty’s relations with Mrs. Sun are so bad, the situation could get even worse if there is any further misunderstanding. Baoqiao insisted and urged us to promise to return home before leaving Paris. If they were at home, we could say goodbye to them. At half past eight we had supper at Shanglong restaurant.

The day before yesterday, some five thousand Hong Kong Communist Party workers went to the Kowloon Train Station to welcome the consolation delegation sent by the Guangzhou Chinese Communists to Hong Kong. It was heard that the Hong Kong Government did not allow its arrival, so the workers started a riot with some twenty thousand people. Some ten people were hurt in the incident. From this we can see the situation in Hong Kong.

Guo Taiji died in his home in the United States yesterday. He died at the age of 63. We have been old friends for some thirty years. He was quite good to me. During the past few years he has been very ill. It was not easy for him, even for writing letters. He still wrote to Sun Fo in the previous week, and asked Sun Fo to relay his greetings to me. I was very sad on learning of his death.
