 At seven in the morning I took a car to leave Dushiqiao, and arrived at Chungking by nine o’clock. Minister Guo had moved to the hostel, and I lived temporarily in the small room. Forcing a Minister of Foreign Affairs to move and give up his room to receive a foreign consultant, the bad habit of honouring foreigners, but not the Chinese, has reappeared. I could not but sigh about it today. Section Chief Shen told me that it was because Minister Guo Taiji was not dutiful to Chen Xizeng (陳希曾). I felt much saddened.
