At 1.00 p.m. I went to see the Chairman of Voks Keminov. He is a well -known historian in the Soviet Union. He told me that the Xinjiang authority has been very unfriendly towards the Soviet Union during the past few months. Many Soviet books, even those unimportant books on science, were all confiscated. It also stopped the activities at Voks. I immediately cabled the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Liang Hancao, and asked them to help alleviate the situation.
Today the 11th Congress was opened in Chongqing. Wang Chonghui didn’t act as the Chairman of the Political Section. Perhaps his health is not good.
