Rain

In the morning, Zhongxiong [and Zhiwei] left here to go to Jiayi. They went to inspect houses yesterday afternoon. It is quite hopeful that we can get an ideal one.

After borrowing some books from a book shop, I had lunch outside.

In the afternoon, Lin Bin and Lu Guang came over to chat. Tan Baoshen came and I had supper with him. Afterwards I went with him to Zhongshan Hall to attend a party co-organized by the Social Department of Provincial Government and organizations of people. We went there because the Taiwan movie star, Lin Cuihua, had given me tickets. (She performed a dance during the party.) But as a matter of fact, she did not join us, so left early and took a walk in the city. I returned at 10:15 p.m.

The current issue of Time (3 June 1957) had published Liu Ziran’s case. Liu had a connection with Robert G. Reynolds regarding black market transactions. The article also said that Liu’s wife had told the police during the investigation that her husband knew Robert G. Reynolds. Its comment was quite measured.
