Twenty-seventh day of the third lunar month

This morning Stalin issued an instruction asking everybody in the country to fight for the country. In the instruction, he appreciated the accomplishments of Britain and the United States in North Africa, and he also said the second war zone would be opened soon. Germany now used a peace settlement as a tactic. From newspapers, we could see that Germany implied that if the Soviet Union didn’t cooperate with Britain and the United States, Germany would be able to have peace talks with the Soviet Union. If Britain and the United States do not cooperate with the Soviet Union, Germany will be able to have peace talks with both Britain and the United States. But he believes Germans are cruel and not trustworthy, and peace talks with Germany will be impossible. Germany should be defeated then peace is possible. I thought what Stalin said was true. I immediately sent a report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new Mexican Minister has arrived in the Soviet Union. He works on his own, and carries a small suitcase with him. That’s all for the Mexican Embassy. It’s become a laughing stock in the diplomatic circle here. It is a shame to be a diplomat for a small country.
I have been lying in bed for five days. The typist from the Military Attaché‎ came here to change the medicine for me once in the daytime and once in the evening. I could walk today. But the doctor said I haven’t sprained my ankle. He is afraid it is arthritis. Probably because the water here has a lot of minerals and also the food is not suitable. My stomach doesn’t feel very well and I work too hard and don’t have enough exercise. He told me that I should 1) not drink too much water 2) walk for one or two hours daily 3) take medicine continuously. It is disgusting to have such sickness.
