With regard to Taft’s suggestion of giving assistance to Chiang to win back China, there has also been skepticism by the Republicans. For example, Governor Earl Warren, of California, said that if this policy is implemented and Chiang is unable to win China back, the United States would have to do it itself. Taft replied that what he advocated was not to be implemented now. It would be the operation after the Chinese communists join the Vietnam War. From this we could see the emotion of the United States.
