Eleventh day of the twelfth lunar month
I got up early and prepared clothing for Fanny. At 10.00 I drove her to Jiangsu hospital. I received a phonecall in the afternoon saying that she would soon be in labour and needed to stay in the hospital.
From 9.00 to 12.30 I was in a Legislative Yuan meeting. At, 1.00 p.m. all the Legislative Yuan committees organised a banquet for Sun Fo to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his becoming President of the Legislative Yuan, and at the same time to bid farewell to me. Committee member Peng Yangguang (彭養光) was the Chairman. After the main speech, Premier Sun praised me highly in his reply speech, reflecting on our twenty-some years as working partners and friends. I was very touched. I replied briefly, recalling when and how I was related to him and the Legislative Yuan. I also said I would be dispatched to the Soviet Union and should be away for a while, and expressed the hope that I would be back to the Legislative Yuan in two years. To be honest, I don’t want to leave.
In the afternoon, Fanny was not at home. I was very lonely, and didn’t want to stay in our room, in order to avoid sad feelings. I then moved to the room of little maid, and asked her to move to my room. This would be help Miss Long to take care of her as she could live with her.
Yang Chuangu (楊傳谷), Zhao Cheng (趙溫), Ding Huiru (丁蕙如), Long Renrui and others invited me to dinner at a restaurant we always go to. Miss Ding fainted because of the hot air from the charcoal fire tray. Luckily many people were there and they took her to another room for some fresh air; then she revived. So, we know the danger of using a charcoal fire tray.
