The newspapers have published today that Ambassador Hollington Tong apologized to the American government for the damage sustained by the American Embassy. Martial law is still imposed in Taipei.

At noon, Liu Shida invited me to have lunch at the Friends of China, but we did not touch upon the sugar matter. I do not have a very good impression with him; perhaps I am prejudiced.

I received a letter from Shaohua with regard to the fundamental issues of the Xinguang factory regarding the sugar factory, and so on. He also said that he intended to change his flight from the Philippines to Taiwan. I immediately instructed Zhongxiong to be in touch with Wu Huoshi (吳火獅).
