Today is Christmas day. Our family had lunch at our restaurant. I took a nap in the small room, no longer in the cellar.

In the evening Chengzhi came to discuss the business. Shaohua said he had cabled his elder brother, and probably it was hopeful. Shaohua also talked about the two children. Zhongxiong and Defeng were also here. They all felt that they could not save the situation. What we could do was to send them to schools.

Chengzhi has sent me the cheque of five million francs from the lawyer. I asked him to take it to the Chase Bank to liaise with the bank with regard to foreign exchange.
