Dry, sun

Today’s weather was very good, and so I went with Chen Jingchen, Li Shaorui and Qian Chengyong for a walk, in Lenin Hills, and watched students skating. But since the weather has just turned warm, some of the snow has started to melt, so it was inconvenient to walk and so we did not stay very long. We then went to second-hand shops and the second-hand bookshop. We bought several books and returned.

Turkey broadcast from its Government newspapers’ editorials, citing the accusation against Turkey by various British newspapers that it did not carry out its duty as an Ally. Its wording was quite strong, saying that if Britain and the United States need armaments, and want to stop giving Turkey weapons, Turkey will be more than happy to sacrifice them. Also, according to the production scale of Britain and the United States in producing weapons, even though they provided Turkey with ammunition they would not interfere with the needs of other areas. If Britain and the United States want to force Turkey to join the war, it will only bring about the opposite. What the Axis countries have wanted to achieve for the last five years might be achieved by such a move from Britain and the United States. The tone was that if they push too much then Turkey could join the Axis. This tone is really childish, as I do not believe that Turkey will join the Axis during this time of collapse and to end with them altogether. Also it has received ammunition from others, and has its duty as an Ally. If it cannot fulfil this duty, it should explain its own difficulty to others and hope they will understand. It shouldn’t be so stern with its words. It is impossible for the big nation to cheat the small one. A small nation like Turkey will certainly fail cheating big countries like Britain and the United States whose victory is within reach. As Su Qin said, a small state will certainly lose if it is greedy. This is a universal truth.
