I received a letter from Bingkun, saying Mrs. Sun told him that Sun Fo had formally signed an agreement with Lan Ni to sever their relations. Therefore, he had used up a certain amount of money. Now he had to ask people to buy his furniture, and so on, in order to afford to travel to Europe. Mr. Sun Fo might not be as poor like this; probably it is because the passport and visa are not ready, so he puts in an excuse like this. As for Mr. Sun Fo severing his relations with Lan Ni, I am afraid it will not be true. I guessed it was just cheating Mrs. Sun.
In the report of Marshall today, it publicized a letter from Truman to MacArthur on 13th January this year. The letter said that before the strength of the United States had been increased to satisfactory level, (MacArthur) should be cautious not to enlarge the war. This is the true American policy, therefore what MacArthur and Truman advocated were basically the same, only the point on time differed. I thought, to be fair, MacArthur seemed to be too rushed, and did not understand US power was still not enough. Nevertheless, he demanded immediate advance and advocated the US taking action on its own. These were certainly mistakes. But that Truman suddenly dismissed him and did not ask him to return to the United States to discuss the situation was also inappropriate. So, both of them had made mistakes.
