Thursday, 11 November
In the evening I invited the American Ambassador Harriman and also the President of the American military delegation, Gen.Maj-Gen.J.R. Deane, Brigadoer General SidneyT. Spaulding, Brigadier General Hoyt S. Vandenburg (Air Gen.), Hamilton, C. H. Bohlen (As Chief of Division of European Affairs) & Perkins. Ambassador Harriman said he sincerely believed that when the German-Soviet war ended, the Soviet Union would definitely join the war against Japan. General Deane also said that, and therefore I thought that the talk between Hull and Stalin must have had substantial results. Therefore, based on what Ambassador Kerr said, there was a possibility of mentioning it at the venue. So I felt that I should report this to the Generalissimo and Minister Song.
