At 6.30 in the afternoon the American Embassy invited us to a tea party to welcome the Chairman of the War Production Board, Donald Nelson. I went to the tea party, but I left early because I had invited the Belgian Ambassador and the Ministers of France and Canada and the Australian Charge d’Affaires, and also the British Commercial Secretary, Joy, to dinner. We had a Chinese dinner and all the guests were very satisfied.
