Yesterday the King of Romania, Michael, declared he would surrender to the Allies and join them to fight against the Germans. Romania has negotiated terms with the Soviet Union, and these have been agreed by Britain and the United States. The collapse of Germany will not be far away.

In the afternoon I went to a sports arena to see a tennis tournament with Jingchen, Chengyong and Daichu and his wife and others. Both sides were very good. We then went to a sports club in the countryside to swim. The facilities were only modest.
