Again, Kitty has suspected that I had sneaked out last night. I felt really very awful. I had no other way so I decided to go to Paris with her. I hoped that a change in environment would help. And I would spend two or three weeks in London with her. Baoqiao urged me to talk to Sun Fo, so that our trip would avoid misunderstanding.  I asked Sun Fo to come to the room of Baoqiao and told him of my difficulty. He quite understood what I said. He also said we have known each other well after thirty-five years. In the past several decades he has treated me as his real brother. In the past several decades his pain originated from family was much more than mine. He also hoped that Kitty and I should not have any misunderstanding because of this matter. He confessed he was wrong that he was bad tempered to Kitty the day before yesterday. When he said this his tears fell. I also felt very sad.

I told him that Wang Chonghui wrote to me, saying that friends in Taiwan are thinking about the re-election of Deputy President because of the impeachment of Li Zongren.  Wang wondered if Sun Fo had any intention to return to Taiwan. Wang hoped that I could reply at my convenience. I asked Sun Fo how to reply to this letter. Sun Fo said he absolutely does not want to go back to Taiwan. It is because in the previous election, he was originally unwilling to participate, but Chiang visited his home personally to persuade him, and reminded Sun Fo that he should fulfill his duty to Party and country. Chiang had even sent Madame Chiang to convince him personally, therefore he had to go. Yet Chiang absolutely did not try his best to help him in the election. After he failed, Chiang blamed him for not working hard enough. Therefore, this request has reminded him of that unpleasant experience. He asked me to decline tactfully.

After we talked, Kitty entered the room. He apologized to Kitty, and Kitty shook hand with him and said she will not blame him. I told Sun Fo that Kitty wants to seek medication in Paris. Then we would travel to London and stay there for two or three weeks. Sun Fo said they also intended to visit various places in Europe by the twentieth of next month. He would return after his wife’s departure to the United States this July. I said, in that case, I would rush back here before they left home. Then I went with Kitty to Paris. Zhang Han invited us for lunch at the Shenjiang restaurant. Guo Jinkun was also at lunch. He will leave for Spain tomorrow.

At three I went to the Embassy. Duan Guanhai accompanied me to the British Embassy to complete the procedure for obtaining visas to Britain.

At five, Mr. Zhang Han accompanied us to our hotel. We had packed our luggage for the trip to Paris.  We stayed at the Hotel Morgane, 6 rue Keppler 16eme. We stayed in Room 44. The daily rent is only 1200 francs.

We had supper at the Shanglong and did not return to our hotel until twelve midnight.
