This morning Attaché Hu took a flight to the Romanian Front line designated as a reporter. With this she was really able to obtain accurate information, and the conditions of many places, which is beneficial for my job. As a girl she is rare in being so hardworking.

I studied Russian in the morning.

Secretary Yang Shuren has been working in the diplomatic circle for sixteen years, and he is not very satisfied with his present post, therefore he wants to be sent back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When he returns to Chongqing he will try to change to a different job. But the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not approved it as he has been working in the post for less than three years. So he has decided to resign and his letter was full of irate wording. I helped him and forwarded his letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is capable and can handle matters well, but unfortunately he thinks too highly of himself and cannot get on well with people. Also he has been unwilling to be in touch with foreigners, so he has remained in the same post for many years. Perhaps we shouldn’t blame the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of being unjust to him regarding his appointment.
