He Xufu came and said he also wanted to go to the Soviet Union. I agreed and told him to ask for the Generalissimo’s permission via Shang Zhen(商震).[1]
Lou Tongsun came and said he wanted to resign from his post as concurrent member of the Diplomatic Committee. I asked him not to do so. He said that Shao Lizi would replace Chen Bulei(陳布雷).[2]
In the afternoon, I went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and had a talk with Mr. Wu Guozhen (吳國楨)[3], the Deputy Minister, with regard to choosing personnel to be stationed at the embassy in Soviet Russia. He was quite helpful.
Wang Chonghui and his wife came and told me what things had happened in the last few days.
Li Zhuoxian and Xie Baoqiao invited me for dinner at the Guangdong restaurant.
