Fine, sun

In the morning I studied Russian. Because my memory is not very good, I decided that I would only learn one chapter of Semeonoff’s “New Russian Grammar” every week. Now it is the 19th chapter, and only six chapters are left. For the rest of the time we will practise conversation and pronunciation more.

The British economic magazine published an article entitled “Japanese New Policy”. It said briefly that Japan did not suffer much, the control of the military was stronger, and light industries had changed to heavy industries. People still had strong confidence in their government, and the government would not collapse easily. The Soviet Union might not join the war against Japan, in the future if Japan feels danger it can use the Communist danger as a threat. Because if the Japanese Government falls, Japan Proper will turn Red, and the area under occupation by Japan will turn Red too. If this is the case, Britain, the United States and the Kuomintang will face a disaster of bigger magnitude. As to evidence earlier this year the Japanese Communist leaders went to Yenan. Therefore, if Japan proposes peace talks and is willing to retreat from all occupied territories and recognise the Generalissimo’s reign, it is possible that Britain, the United States and China will be stirred into action. The attitude of the said magazine is very much in agreement with the British Government and from this we can gain a glimpse of British public opinion. At least it can represent the policy of the British Conservatives. Our country’s path is rugged, and those in charge of our government in Chongqing should be watchful.
