In the morning Chengyong phoned me, saying that Shen Changhuan agreed to take a watch to Bingkun for me. Shen is a really kind person.
I wrote to fifth sister and the wife of Bingkun, for Kitty, with regard to the matter of the two children of Wanling and Yongde.
In the afternoon I went with Kitty and Baoqiao to Paris to visit Guo Youshou. Guo lives in the apartment in the 15th arrondisement. (13, Rue Emile Duclaux) It is a nice place. We went with him to Dumesnil for afternoon tea. It was inexpensive and good, costing us only 500 francs for four people.
At eight in the evening, He Jinhai and his wife invited us to have dinner at Drouant restaurant. Besides us, the wife of the Chinese ambassador to Siam, the staff of the Siamese Embassy, the General Manager of Shell in Europe, Mr. Smith and his wife, were also present. The food was very good. The dinner ended at eleven. It was already half past twelve when we returned home.
Senator Homer Ferguson said that the United States should assist Chiang to invade the Mainland. The United States did not need to have manpower input. If the invasion proved unsuccessful, the US would withdraw immediately. The American public opinion seemed to have some changes.
The New York Herald Tribune reported that in a small town called Southwood in the southern part of a big port held a voting of citizens. It turned out that of 174 votes against 28, which banned a Chinese, Sing Sheng, and his indigenous wife and son to live there. He had bought a house, and his wife would give birth to another child soon. Until now United States still treated colored people in such manner. I am lucky that I do not live in the United States.
