This morning, Miss Sofia Donskaya, the teacher introduced by Voks, came. This was the first time I learnt Russian. The teaching was fine.

The editorial of the Soviet Government’s official newspaper criticised the Polish Government for asking the Red Cross to send people to what the Germans called the vicinity of Smolensk to dig out the corpses of Polish officers. It criticised this as unfriendly and an act helping Germany. Today Tass even announced that the Polish President Sikorski of the Polish Government and staff certainly collaborated with the Germans. From this the Soviet and Polish relationship must be very worrying. I thought under such circumstances, the Poles should be toleratant.
