The new Egyptian Minister to the Soviet Union visited me. He has been transferred from Turkey. According to him, the French were bad to the local North Africans and they asked for independence. Therefore if the Americans want to help people in Asia to gain independence, they should not disappoint local Africans. According to him and what the Abyssinian Minister said earlier, local Africans needed liberation.

Yesterday the American army occupied Cherbourg. The Red army has recovered Vitebsk and the Chinese army Mogan.
