Wu Shangying came from Dushiqiao. It happened that Zhong Weiwen asked for his consent, saying that the Agricultural Bank of China wanted to borrow the house which the bank intended to lend to Sun Fo. The house was used by Sun Fo to receive the representative of the American Economic Delegation, Mr. Cochrane. Sun Fo would be back soon and it put Wu Shangying in quite a difficult situation. This act of putting emphasis on foreigners, but not on Chinese, by our government is not right. This time when the representatives of Britain and the United States came to China, our Minister of Foreign Affairs was forced to move out because of the British representative[1]. Again, in order to cater for the American representative, a President would be forced to move out. Where is the country’s dignity? Lattimore said the people around the Generalissimo were mainly eunuch-minded. I am afraid that those handling foreign affairs are comprador-minded. It is a great pity.
