I studied Italian on my own.

The New York Times has reported that the Soviet representative, General A.P. Kislenko, raised the issue of Japan’s budget, during the Committee for Controlling Japan, as the defense expenditure occupied more than one quarter of the total budget. It was undoubtedly that American side would manipulate Japan. Soviet Union also knew that it was unable to stop it. What it could do was to propagandise to attack the United States. West Germany would enlist sixty thousand former soldiers as volunteers.

Those family members of the overseas Chinese in the areas of CCP control committed suicide because they were unable to pay the fees they were forced to pay; there were over some five thousand people. It was a tragedy too.
