At midnight I received the Generalissimo’s telegram of congratulations to Chairman Stalin concerning the two-year anniversary of the Soviet War of Resistance against Germany. In the telegram, it said that the evil deeds of the Axis didn’t matter whether in the East or the West. We and the Soviet Union shared the same mission and the same goal.
I then immediately asked Secretary Gou to translate it into Russian. At 2.00 p.m. I went to the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hand it to the Foreign Affairs Deputy People’s Commissar, Vyshinski. He said he would transfer this with my letter to Mr. Stalin to Moscow. The telegram was sent direct from the Military Committee, so I immediately sent a telegram to the Generalissimo to report.
