In the morning, I bought a subscription to the New York Times at a rate of $380 per month.

I went to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to talk with Deputy Minister, Zhou Shukai, for quite a long time.

Liu Kai came. I went with him for lunch at Jinlong Hall of the Grand Hotel. We met Mr. Zhang Qun and Ambassador and Mrs. Li Dijun by chance. We invited them to join us. Zhang Qun said that he had spoken to Li about the doctrines of Jesus. I do not think that Li is a deeply religious man, so I really suspect whether Li would be moved or inspired. I heard that Wang Chonghui would go to the church of Shilin to pray there every week5. I really do not believe that Li would convert like this.

In the evening, President Zhang Daofan invited me for another banquet. Again, all we diners were old friends. We had a happy time.
