近代城市小報資料庫
13種小報、89萬筆資料的近代城市社會文化史料
本所「城市史研究群」成立以來，一直致力於開發城市相關的研究議題，並持續針對幾份具代表性小報整理原報刊影像、著錄metadata，目前已完成的小報包括上海及蘇州地區的城市小報，共13種，約89萬筆資料，已建置成《近代城市小報資料庫》，並於2015年底開放外界申請使用。
上海及蘇州地區的小報發行時間長，訊息量大，對於研究小報，乃至於城市社會文化史，都有相當的助益；同時利用兩地的小報，在比較不同城市文化的發展方面可以有所突破，應能進一步了解這兩座城市所歷經資源競爭與地位消長的過程，擴展城市史研究的視野。
此外，蘇州城市小報的重要史料價值之一，則是涉及到抗戰時期淪陷城市的社會生活。從城市史的角度來觀察，除了上海的城市史研究之外，其它抗戰時期淪陷城市的研究仍是非常貧乏，蘇州地區的小報資料一方面可以提供學界有關當時淪陷區市民生活的史料，另一方面也可以藉此重新評估汪政權在淪陷區的角色與作用。
在資料庫功能設計上，除了基本書目檢索與原書影像圖文對照瀏覽的功能外，《近代城市小報》與本所MHDB資料庫群組的整合查詢方式是：1.作者欄位連結至《人物資訊整合系統》，以了解作者的相關資料。2.報刊出版日期連結至《近代春秋TIS系統》與《圖書館報刊檢索系統》，以《TIS系統》提綱式的歷史紀載建立當時歷史時空背景資料，以便從各種角度觀察報紙的報導資訊。《近代城市小報》與《TIS系統》的連結是雙向的，一方面查詢小報詳目時，點選日期連結至TIS；另一方面，在《TIS系統》中以關鍵字或日期搜尋時，也可連結到城市小報，查詢相關的歷史報導。
Modern Urban Tabloids Database
Since the "Urban History Research Group" established, it has engaged in developing urban related research issues and continued to arrange some representative original newspapers and journals images, catalogue them into metadata. So far, 13 kinds of urban tabloids of Shanghai and Suzhou, almost 890,000 pieces of data has been integrated into "Modern Urban Tabloids Database", and opened for public use in 2015.
Shanghai and Shuzhou's tabloids' releasing time was long and their information is great which is conducive to research tabloids and modern urban social and cultural history. Using tabloids from both places at same time can make breakthrough in comparing different cities' cultural development, further understanding competitions for resources and wax and wane between these two cities which broadens the horizon of urban history research.
Otherwise, one of values of Shuzhou's tabloid is social life of occupied city in Anti-Japanese War. From perspective of urban history, other than Shanghai's urban history research, research for other occupied cities still very insufficient. Thus, Shuzhou tabloid, on the one hand, can provide scholarship civil life data about occupied regions; on the other hand, it can be used to reevaluate the Reorganized National Government's role and function in occupied regions.
Within the database function, except basic bibliography searching and original book's images comparing with texts, the searching method of integrating "Modern Urban Tabloids" and our MHDB system is: 1. Connect the "Figure Data Integration System" from the author bar, so as to grasp the related information of the author. 2. Connect the "Modern Chunqiu TIS System" and "Library's Journal Searching System", using the historical outline of "TIS system" to establish contemporary background data, so as to observe journal information from multi-facets. "Modern Urban Tabloids" and "TIS system" connection is bidirectional: on one hand, while searching tabloid certain information, one can click the data to link to TIS; on the other hand, searching keywords or data in "TIS system", one can also link to urban tabloid, searching for related historical news.
